Fostering Experiential Learning & Reflection Assignments in Engaged Learning Courses

A  panel of faculty teaching engaged learning courses will discuss how they craft experiential learning in their courses, as well as how they design reflection assignments to demonstrate such learning. Examples will vary from service-learning and academic internship courses to undergraduate research courses. The panelists will each discuss their experiential learning course and share reflection strategies they utilize. The panel will engage participants in dialogue around designing experiential learning courses and crafting reflection assignments.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants in this workshop will be able to: 1) identify a variety of engaged learning pedagogical techniques in undergraduate research, service-learning, academic internship courses; 2) engage in dialogue around reflection activities in experiential learning courses; and 3) articulate reflection activities and strategies that may be adapted in engaged learning courses.
